Crows feet, laugh lines, or whatever one wants to call wrinkles around the eyes, are cause by various factors, including age. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on eye wrinkle creams, gels, serums, or even surgery, try some free and low cost home remedies first.
Outdoor Protection
Although sunscreen won’t erase damage already done, it can protect the skin from further sun damage. Nearly 90% of eye wrinkles are due to repeated sun exposure without skin-protecting sunscreen. Choose a SPF of 15 or higher and apply to all areas of exposed skin. There are sunblocks made especially for faces. Try to stay out of the sun from noon to 3pm since this is when the sun’s damaging rays are strongest.
Choose sunglasses that have 100% UV A/B/C protection and that have dark lenses, since this will help you avoid squinting when outdoors. Repeated squinting is another cause of the delicate tissue around the eyes becoming wrinkled. The UV protective lenses will also protect the eyes themselves from sun damage and cataracts.
Simple Habits For Smoother Skin
When we sleep on our stomach, it pushes the face into the pillow, causing wrinkling. Blood also pools in the tiny veins under the eyes, causing puffiness. By sleeping on your back you can reduce creases and eye swelling.
A body that’s constantly dehydrated will wrinkle prematurely. Be sure to drink at least 64 ounces of water each and every day. It will help to plump up the skin cells, keeping skin smoother and reducing signs of wrinkling. Getting enough water is good for the entire body—inside and out.
Natural Wrinkle Erasers
Most people have two effective wrinkle reducers right in their refrigerators. Grapes and pineapple have acids and antioxidants that act like a natural acid peel, helping to diminish wrinkles over time. Simply cut a grape in half or take a small slice of pineapple and rub it over eye wrinkles. Allow the juice to dry and set for about half an hour then rinse off with cool water and pat face dry.
Vitamin E can also help reduce and avoid crow's feet. Each night before going to bed, pierce a vitamin E capsule with a pin and squeeze some oil onto your finger. With a light touch, pat and massage the oil onto eye wrinkles. Vitamin E is an antioxidant and the oil is very thick so it hydrates dry skin very well. Toss the empty capsule into the trash and fall asleep, being sure to sleep on your back. Many users notice a difference in the appearance of wrinkles after just one or two applications of vitamin E oil. Using the grape or pineapple during the day and vitamin E at night will show faster results.
Aging is a natural part of life, but premature wrinkles aren’t. By protecting the skin, drinking enough water, and using simple products at home on a daily basis, eye wrinkles can fade over time and future wrinkles prevented.
