When a person does a candida detox the yeast dies off and produces toxins at a pace too fast for the body to process and eliminate. This causes a variety of uncomfortable symptoms that may last from a few days to several weeks. Also referred to as Herxheimer Reaction, the die-off part of a candida cleanse can sometimes make one feel worse for a short time.

For those who are on a Candida detox program or following a Candida diet, they may experience some or many of the following yeast infection die-off symptoms. Although these side-effects can make one feel as if they're getting worse, it's a positive sign that the yeast is dying off and ultimately being eliminated form the body.

This list may seem overwhelming, but it’s actually a good sign to experience at least some of these symptoms since it's proof positive that a chosen candida detox program is working. Candida detox symptoms are very much like Candida symptoms themselves, but often to a larger degree in the beginning.
How To Lessen Candida Die Off Symptoms
Drinking a lot of water helps to flush out toxins from the body. A good rule of thumb is to drink a gallon of water a day, or half your body weight in ounces. For example, if someone weighs 160 pounds they would want to be sure to drink at least 80 ounces of water a day.
Soak in the bathtub with a cup of Epsom salts or baking soda added to the water. The water should be as hot as you feel comfortable with. Remain in the tub for 15 minutes to half an hour. This will help to draw out toxins through your skin. (Note: Do not do this if pregnant.)
Getting exercise produces sweat, which assists in releasing toxins through the skin. Regular exercise is also good for allover health--mentally, physically, and emotionally. Most people don’t get nearly enough exercise. Try to aim for a half hour of cardio exercise at least three times a week and a half hour of combined stretching and weights three times a week. Alternate days and take a day off each week.
Take supplements such as vitamin C and psyillium husk fiber. Vitamin C helps to flush the kidneys and boost the immune system, and psyllium husk helps to bind toxins and eliminate them from the body.
How Long Candida Die Off Symptoms Last
During the candida albicans detoxification stage, the stronger the antifungal used, the more intense the die-off symptoms will be. Prescription medications like Nystatin tend to cause the most severe die-off symptoms, while natural remedies such as oregano oil and grapefruit seed extract may be a bit gentler. Symptoms may last as little as a few day or weeks, to several months, depending on how long the yeast has been in the system and how much it has built up.
Everyone is different and it's best to follow the advice of an experienced health practitioner. Yeast infection die-off symptoms are only temporary and show that the detoxification process is working.
