Combat ED safely and naturally with these tasty, healthy super foods. Keeping an erection may be as simple as changing your diet.

Men can suffer from erectile dysfunction, no matter their age. If you find that ED is causing you embarrassment and frustration you may want to take a look at your diet. Although various prescription drugs, chronic stress, and an imbalance in hormones can contribute to erectile dysfunction, so can your diet. There are certain foods you should add to your daily meals if you're trying to fight ED. Within a short period of time you should notice stronger, longer lasting erections, better allover health, and an increase in energy and libido.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Try adding more fatty acids to your diet. In this case, not all fats are created equal since fatty acids are different than what you'd find on a steak or in cheese. These good omega-3s are found in salmon, pumpkin seeds, walnuts, and eggs, which can help with ED, and may also combat hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and other health problems.

Leafy Greens

Your mom was right when she said you should eat your veggies, especially the dark green leafy varieties such as collards, spinach and kale. These vegetables are high in zinc which may help increase blood flow to your organs. Since the penis is an organ, and ED is usually the result of a decrease in blood flow, eating green vegetables daily could help. All you need is a cup or two each day.

Reduce Sugar and Fat

Cutting out excess sugar and fat from your diet can do you a world of good. Consuming large quantities of these empty calories can lead to many health problems including heart disease, erectile dysfunction and obesity. The more weight you're carrying the harder your body has to work to pump blood to your main organs such as your heart. Other organs, like the penis, suffer as a result and could get less blood flow, leading to ED. Whether natural or man-made, cut back on sugars and fats, period.

More Potassium

Foods that are rich in potassium may help reduce the effects of sodium in the diet. Potatoes, bananas, lima beans and other potassium-rich foods can lower some of the sodium present in other foods you may eat. It's also wise to fit some of these good foods into your meals since low levels of potassium in the body can lead to high blood pressure and erectile dysfunction.

Red Foods

Foods that are red contain good sources of lycopene, which opens up blood vessels so more blood can flow through. Tomato sauce, strawberries and watermelon are all good sources of lycopene so add these regularly. Since there are two main chambers in the penis that receive the most blood flow, you want them to dilate as much as possible so you'll have stronger erections; lycopene-rich foods can help.

Eat a Rainbow of Foods to Fight ED

Rather than trying to remember each and every super food that's good for your health and for fighting ED, be sure to eat a rainbow of foods daily. Every time you eat look down at your plate, if it looks mostly beige or brown you know you aren't eating as healthy as you should. The more color the more vitamins and nutrients your body will get. In just a few short weeks you could notice a big difference in your mood, energy level, libido and the length and strength of your erections.
